UPERGO Vertical Laptop Stand — Black Walnut and Aluminium, 0.7–1.5 In Slot

UPERGO Vertical Laptop Stand Review (2026) — Does Walnut Beat Aluminium?

The UPERGO vertical laptop stand is the one you buy when the desk is part of the room. It pairs a black walnut panel with an aluminium base, and it is handmade from leftover wood, which means the grain on yours will not match the photograph and that is rather the point.

We reviewed it because every other stand in this category is a piece of bent or machined metal, and a home office that is also a living space sometimes needs an object rather than a bracket. What you pay for that is range: UPERGO’s slot takes devices from 0.7 to 1.5 inches, a window barely half as wide as the OMOTON’s, and the narrowest of the five stands we compared.

Quick verdict: the UPERGO vertical laptop stand scores 7.9/10. Buy it for how it looks, but measure your laptop first — the slot is genuinely narrow.

Key Specifications

Black Walnut and Aluminium — Materials With a Reason

The walnut is not veneer over particle board; UPERGO builds the panel from solid offcuts, which is why the company says openly that the grain varies between units. Paired with a recyclable aluminium base, it is one of the few stands in this category that has a material story beyond “anodised”. On a desk that people see, it reads as furniture rather than accessory.

The 0.7 to 1.5 Inch Slot Is the Catch

This is the number to check before you buy. A 0.8 inch range is enough for a MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, and most ultrabooks — and not enough for a thick gaming laptop, a workstation, or any laptop you keep inside a padded sleeve. The OMOTON runs to 2.71 in; this stops at 1.5 in. If your machine is on the thick side, this stand is simply the wrong shape for it.

Protection on Both Halves

Wood against aluminium is a scratch risk in both directions, and UPERGO has addressed both: scratch-resistant pads sit on the walnut panel where the lid touches, and a silicone cushion sits under the aluminium base where it meets the desk. The 18-month warranty is longer than most in this category, and the 30-day return window matters more than usual here because slot fit is the thing most likely to disappoint.

Limitations and Compromises

The 0.7–1.5 in slot is the headline limitation and it rules out a meaningful slice of laptops. Beyond that: 296 Amazon ratings is a much thinner evidence base than the OMOTON’s 9,200 or the UGREEN’s 11,899, so there is less accumulated long-term feedback to lean on. Solid wood also moves with humidity in a way aluminium does not, and at $31.50 it costs more than better-adjusting metal stands. It holds one device.

Setup and Maintenance

Seat the laptop gently — wood has no give, so the pads do all the work. Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators; solid walnut will move if you dry it out, and a stand that has cupped will not hold a slot dimension. Dust with a dry cloth. Do not use household cleaners on the walnut. If the fit feels tight on day one, use the 30-day return window rather than forcing the machine in.

Who Should Buy It?

• Your desk is in a room people see
• You own a MacBook or a slim ultrabook that falls inside 0.7–1.5 in
• You want warm materials rather than black or silver metal
• You care that it is made from offcuts and recyclable aluminium

Do not buy it for a thick gaming laptop, a mobile workstation, or any machine you dock inside a sleeve — it will not fit and no amount of adjustment will change that. If you want the same visual warmth with a wider slot, you are better served by a metal stand and a nicer desk mat.

SoftPickr Verdict

The UPERGO vertical laptop stand scores 7.9/10. Solid black walnut, not veneer, and the one compromise you are accepting is stated plainly above. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $31.50 at the time of writing and the live listing is the only accurate source.

UPERGO vertical laptop stand review — Frequently Asked Questions

What laptop thickness does the UPERGO stand fit?

From 0.7 in to 1.5 in. That covers MacBooks and most ultrabooks, but excludes thick gaming laptops, workstations, and laptops inside padded sleeves.

Is the walnut real wood?

Yes — solid black walnut, handmade from leftover wood pieces. UPERGO notes the grain differs between units, so yours will not match the listing photo exactly.

How long is the UPERGO warranty?

Eighteen months, with a 30-day return policy. That return window is worth keeping in mind, because slot fit is the most common reason to send one back.

Will the wood scratch my laptop?

Scratch-resistant pads sit on the walnut where the lid makes contact, and a silicone cushion protects the desk under the aluminium base.
