Three Drawers for the Price of One
The Mind Reader is the cheapest stand in our comparison and the only one with three drawers. At $12.99 when we checked, it lifts a monitor or laptop 4 inches and gives you three pull-out compartments for sticky notes, pens and chargers. It has 4,497 ratings at 4.5 out of 5.
Square and Deep
The footprint is 13.5 by 13 inches, deeper than it is wide compared with the other risers. That suits a monitor with a round or square base, a small printer or a closed laptop. The plastic body weighs just over 2 lb and wipes clean with soap and water.
Limitations and Compromises
It is plastic, and the 22 lb rating is the lowest here; it is meant for a light monitor or a laptop. The 4-inch lift is the lowest fixed height in the comparison, so a tall person may still look down at the screen. Monitors with wide feet can overhang the 13.5-inch top.
Who Should Buy It?
- You want the cheapest stand with drawers
- You want three separate drawers
- You have a light monitor (22 lb or less) or a laptop
- You want something easy to wipe clean
Look elsewhere if your monitor is heavy (the Homerays is rated at 150 lb), if you need more lift (the Simple Trending gives 5.8 inches), or if you want metal or wood instead of plastic.
SoftPickr Verdict
The Mind Reader Monitor Stand scores 7.8/10. It is a basic plastic riser, but it is cheap, it has three drawers, and thousands of owners rate it well. For a light monitor or a laptop on a tight budget it does the job. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $12.99 at the time of writing and the live listing is the only accurate source.
