Three Heights
A fixed riser is a guess about your posture. The Zimilar gives three settings, 4.13, 4.92 and 5.71 inches, changed by pressing a button on each leg. If you are not sure how much lift you need, or you share the desk with someone of a different height, that range is the reason to choose it.
Drawer That Takes Paper
The sliding drawer is metal and sized for US letter paper, which few drawer stands promise. A foldable phone holder flips out on each side. The star-pattern mesh top lets air move under a laptop. Zimilar rates the steel frame at 44 lb, more than enough for a single monitor.
Small and Light
At 14.57 by 9.25 inches and 1.6 kg it is the most compact stand here. It suits a laptop, a 24-inch monitor with a small base, or a printer, and it assembles in about a minute with no tools.
Limitations and Compromises
The 14.57-inch platform is narrow. Large monitors with wide V-shaped feet may not sit fully on it, so measure your stand base first. It is single-monitor only. The listing does not say whether the drawer locks or has a stopper. A twin pack (B097DB15ZH) is sold separately if you need two.
Who Should Buy It?
- You want to pick the height rather than accept a fixed one
- You want a drawer that holds letter-size paper
- You need a phone holder
- You have a laptop or a small-footprint monitor
Look elsewhere if your monitor base is wider than about 14 inches (the Simple Trending is 20 inches wide), if you want wood (the Homerays), or if you want two screens on one shelf (the Simple Houseware).
SoftPickr Verdict
The Zimilar Monitor Stand Riser scores 8.3/10. For about $20 at the time of writing it adds the one feature the fixed stands lack, adjustable height, plus a letter-size drawer. Check that your monitor base fits the narrow top. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $21.99 at the time of writing and the live listing is the only accurate source.
