Best Halloween Projector (2026): 6 Picks Compared

The best Halloween projector for most homes is a cheap, weatherproof LED light that throws moving ghosts or patterns across the front of the house, and the one we rate highest is the Toodour Double Head Halloween Projector: two separately aimed heads, four dynamic patterns, a built-in 6-hours-on timer and a listed 1-year warranty for about $24. If you want the viral “zombies in the window” effect instead, you need a different kind of product, a video projector kit, and we cover that too.

Three different things are sold as Halloween projectors: light projectors (LED spotlights with a moving or slide pattern, staked in the lawn), window projector kits (a video projector, looping videos and a translucent window screen, so characters seem to move inside your house) and novelty projectors such as a talking pumpkin. Prices run from $19.99 to $229.99.

We compared six picks across all three types on their published specifications, owner ratings and prices. Every figure below comes from the live Amazon listing at the time of writing. We did not physically test these projectors; this is a research-based comparison, and we say plainly where a listing leaves a figure out or contradicts itself.

Prices and ratings were taken from the Amazon listings at the time of writing and change often, especially in October. The links below always open the live listing.

1. Toodour Double Head Halloween Projector: Best Overall

Specs: 2 light heads, each adjustable 360° · 4 dynamic patterns (Devil Face set) · 10–20 ft recommended distance · timer 6 hours on, 18 hours off · 120 V · stake and screws included · 15.8 oz · 1-year warranty · 4.3 stars from 489 ratings · $24.28

Most budget Halloween lights have one lens. The Toodour has two, on separate arms, and each can be turned a full 360°. Toodour says the double-head design increases the projected area. In practice, one plug can light two surfaces at once: the garage door and the front wall, or a porch wall and its ceiling. At about $24, that’s the most coverage per dollar in this comparison.

The feature that makes it our overall pick, though, is the timer. Hold the button on the adapter for three seconds until the green light comes on, and it runs for six hours, switches off for 18, and comes back on at the same time the next evening. The whole of October runs itself, with no separate outdoor timer and no one remembering to plug it in at dusk. It’s also the only light-type projector in our group with a written 1-year warranty on the listing.

There is one catch you need to plan for. The projector is waterproof, but Toodour says plainly that the power adapter is not. Plug it into a covered outlet or a weatherproof outlet box. The 10–20 ft recommended distance also needs a strip of lawn, and the devil faces are scarier than gentle ghosts.

Best for: most houses, especially if you want two surfaces lit and a light that switches itself on every evening.

Skip if: your only outlet is exposed to rain, or you want friendly ghosts rather than devil faces.

2. EAMBRITE Rotating Ghost Projector: Best Budget Halloween Projector

Specs: rotating white ghosts · best distance 2–16 ft · up to 900 sq ft · 12 V UL-listed waterproof adaptor · 16.4 ft lead-in · ground stake, stand base or wall mount · 0.4 kg · model 807018A · 4.1 stars from 718 ratings · $19.99

The EAMBRITE is the cheapest pick here and does one thing: it fills a wall, garage door or ceiling with white ghosts that drift and rotate. EAMBRITE describes them as “bright and clear white spooky ghosts” that don’t cause eye irritation. You plug it in and the house looks haunted in about a minute.

What separates it from the dozens of unbranded ghost lights at the same price is the power supply. It runs on a 12 V, UL-listed waterproof adaptor with a 16.4 ft lead, so the whole thing can stay outside in an October downpour. That’s a real advantage over the Toodour. It also gives you three ways to mount it: a ground stake, a stand base for a windowsill or table, or a wall mount (bring your own screws).

The trade-offs are range and features. The best distance is 2–16 ft, roughly half the FLITI’s reach, so it suits a garage door or porch rather than a whole two-story house front. The listing doesn’t mention a timer, and there’s no manufacturer warranty. Its 4.1-star average from 718 ratings is well supported but the lowest of the three best-selling outdoor lights here.

Best for: a garage door, porch or ceiling on a tight budget, and anyone whose outdoor outlet isn’t covered.

Skip if: you want a built-in timer, more than one effect, or to cover a large house front.

3. HoliScapes Reaper Brothers Kit: Best Halloween Window Projector

Specs: 1280 x 720 LED projector with sound and remote · 160 lumens · 4–10 ft throw, 60–72 in image · USB and HDMI · AtmosFX USB stick with 9 Halloween scenes, continuous looping · 48 x 72 in white translucent fabric screen for a door or window · 3M mounting hardware · 1-year warranty · 4.1 stars from 139 ratings · $229.99

When people search for a Halloween window projector, they usually mean the effect in the viral videos. A zombie shuffles past, a ghost leans out of the dark, a clown peers through the glass, and it all seems to be happening inside the house. That takes three parts: a video projector, looping Halloween videos and a translucent rear-projection screen in the window. The HoliScapes kit puts all three in one box.

Set-up is exactly what HoliScapes describes. Hang the 48 x 72 in screen in a window or doorway with the included 3M hardware, place the projector 6–8 ft behind it inside the room, plug in the USB stick and press play. The nine AtmosFX scenes are Paranormal Passage, Ghostly Apparitions 2, Sinister Shadows, Zombie Invasion, Ghostly Apparitions 3, Night Stalkers, Terrors From Beyond, Creepy Clowns and Bone Chillers 2. They loop continuously, so the show runs all evening. Of everything in this comparison, it’s the most convincing Halloween effect.

You pay for that. At $229.99 it costs about ten times a good light projector. The projector is rated at 160 lumens, which works through a window at night with the room lights off but won’t compete with a bright room or a streetlight shining on the glass. The resolution is 720p, and 139 ratings is the smallest evidence base in our group.

Best for: the moving-characters-in-the-window effect, with nothing to download or assemble.

Skip if: you already own a projector. See the build-your-own route in the buying guide below, which costs much less.

4. FLITI 19-Slide Projector: Best for Year-Round Use

Specs: 19 HD slides, 76 patterns, 11 holiday themes · patterns plus RGB ocean-wave effect · up to 32 ft throw, up to 2,137 sq ft · head tilts 180° · 10 W LED · 16 ft cord · round base and ground stakes · remote included · 2 lb · 4.4 stars from 835 ratings · $39.99

Planning ahead for December? Five of the FLITI’s 19 slides are Christmas designs, and we compare it with laser, snowfall and nativity lights in our best Christmas light projector for outdoors guide.

The FLITI is the projector to buy if you don’t want another box that only comes down from the attic once a year. It ships with 19 slides carrying 76 patterns across 11 themes: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas (five slides), Valentine’s Day, Easter, Independence Day, birthdays and more. Swap the slide in October, November and December, and it’s a decoration you use most of the year.

It also throws the biggest picture here. FLITI quotes up to 32 ft of projection distance and 2,137 sq ft of coverage, which it says is enough for the exterior wall of a house. That’s about twice the EAMBRITE’s reach. The head tilts 180°, a remote comes in the box, and the ocean-wave color layer behind the patterns is what makes a slide projector look alive rather than like a stencil. At 4.4 stars from 835 ratings, it has the best average of the outdoor lights.

The downside is focus. Halloween is one of 11 themes, and the listing doesn’t say how many of the 19 slides carry Halloween patterns. If you only decorate for October, the Toodour or EAMBRITE gives you more Halloween per dollar. The patterns are slides, not the moving ghosts of the dynamic lights, and there’s no warranty on the listing.

Best for: covering a whole house front, and anyone who decorates for Thanksgiving and Christmas too.

Skip if: you only want a Halloween effect and prefer moving ghosts.

5. Treela Ghost Projector: Best Hologram-Style Effect

Specs: dynamic ghost with a “nearly 3D holographic effect” · projects onto doors, windows, hallways and transparent mesh fabric such as white gauze · waterproof, indoor and outdoor · stake or stand base · LED · 15.04 oz · model JR-Treela-3063 · 4.0 stars from 232 ratings · $35.99

“Halloween hologram projector” is one of the fastest-growing searches in this category, and most people typing it want a ghost that seems to float in mid-air. The Treela gets you part of the way for $35.99. Treela says its dynamic ghost has a nearly 3D holographic effect, and the listing specifically suggests projecting onto transparent mesh such as white gauze. Hang cheesecloth across a porch or doorway, aim the Treela at it, and the ghost hangs in the air instead of sitting flat on a wall.

The problem is what the listing leaves out. There’s no projection distance, coverage area, wattage or timer, and no warranty. At 4.0 stars from 232 ratings, it ties for the lowest average in our group. It also costs about $12 more than the Toodour, which has two heads, a timer and a warranty. Buy it for the gauze trick, not as your main house light.

Best for: a floating-ghost effect in a porch, doorway or hallway without buying a video projector.

Skip if: you want published specs, a timer or a warranty.

6. Jabberin’ Jack Talking Pumpkin: Best Porch Novelty

Specs: animated pumpkin with built-in video projector, 8-inch screen and speaker · sings, talks and tells jokes · Spooky, Traditional and Funny themes · 4 AA batteries (included) or USB · indoor and covered-porch use · 8.3 x 9 x 8.3 in · 16 oz · 4.0 stars from 387 ratings · $44.99

Jabberin’ Jack isn’t a light show; it’s a character. The built-in projector and 8-inch screen animate a carved face on a real-size pumpkin, and the speaker sings, talks and tells jokes. On a porch step or a candy table it gives trick-or-treaters something to stop and watch.

It’s the only pick here that needs no outlet. It runs on four AA batteries (included) or USB, so it can sit at the end of a path under a porch roof, on a party table or on a shop counter. The listing recommends indoor use and covered porches only.

The listing is thin: no brightness figure, picture size or battery life. Treat it as an extra alongside a house light, not instead of one.

Best for: a talking centerpiece for a porch, doorway or party table.

Skip if: you want something people can see from the street.

The Trade-Off None of Them Escapes

Every Halloween projector trades realism against brightness and simplicity. The cheap LED lights are bright enough to read from the street and need nothing but an outlet, but what they show is a pattern: ghosts, bats or a devil face repeated across a wall. The video kit shows real characters moving through a window, which is far more convincing, but it’s a 160-lumen projector that needs darkness, a screen and a room behind the glass, and it costs ten times as much. The hologram-style light and the gauze trick sit between the two.

So decide what you want people to notice. If it’s “that house is lit up for Halloween” from across the road, buy a light projector. If it’s “wait, is someone in that window?” from the sidewalk, buy a video kit.

How to Choose a Halloween Projector: Buying Guide

Light projector or video projector?

A light projector (Toodour, EAMBRITE, FLITI, Treela) is cheap, bright and made to live outdoors, but it can only show its built-in patterns. A video projector (the HoliScapes kit) plays real video, so characters walk and react, but it’s an indoor device that needs a screen and a dark room. Decide on the effect first.

Throw distance and coverage

Measure the distance from where the projector can sit to the wall you want to light. Our picks range from 2–16 ft (EAMBRITE) to up to 32 ft (FLITI). A projector placed too close gives a small, bright patch; too far and the pattern gets dim and soft. For a garage door, 10–15 ft is typical. For a whole house front from the curb, you want the FLITI’s range or two lights.

Weatherproofing: check the adaptor, not just the light

Nearly every outdoor Halloween projector says “waterproof”, but that often means the light head only. Toodour, for example, states that its adapter is not waterproof. EAMBRITE’s 12 V UL-listed waterproof adaptor is the exception. If your outdoor outlet isn’t covered, either buy a light with a waterproof adaptor or put the plug in a weatherproof outlet box. Never leave an indoor-rated adaptor sitting in wet grass.

Timer

A built-in timer is the feature owners appreciate most by the end of October. The Toodour’s 6-hours-on, 18-hours-off cycle means it switches itself on every evening. For lights without one, a plug-in outdoor timer costs a few dollars and does the same job.

Screens for window projection

Window effects need a rear-projection screen: a translucent fabric that catches the picture from inside and shows it to the street. The HoliScapes kit includes a 48 x 72 in screen. If you’re building your own, look for material sold as a rear or holographic projection screen rather than a bed sheet. For a hologram-style effect with a light projector, white gauze or cheesecloth works, as Treela suggests.

Already own a projector? Build your own window kit

If you have a home projector, you don’t need the HoliScapes bundle. Buy the videos and a screen separately. AtmosFX sells its scenes on USB, such as Spooky Halloween Hollusion Vol 1 (8 video effects, $39.99, 4.2 stars from 713 ratings). Reaper Brothers sells a 5 x 9 ft holographic rear projection screen with mounting hardware ($49.99, 4.3 stars from 1,004 ratings). Any projector that can play video from a USB stick will run them (or connect a laptop over HDMI); our HAPPRUN native 1080P projector review covers a budget model with a higher resolution than the kit’s 720p unit. Together that’s roughly $90 for the videos and screen, against $229.99 for the bundle.

Safety and neighbours

Keep cables out of the path trick-or-treaters use, or tape them down. Don’t aim a bright projector at the road or into a neighbour’s windows. If you’re heading out with children on the night, a small flashlight is worth more than any decoration; our EDC flashlight comparison covers pocket lights from budget to premium.

Which Halloween Projector Should You Buy?

  • You want one light for the house and don’t want to think about it: Toodour. Two heads, a timer and a warranty.
  • You’re on a tight budget, or your outlet is exposed: EAMBRITE, with its waterproof adaptor.
  • You want the moving-characters-in-the-window effect: HoliScapes kit, or build your own if you already own a projector.
  • You decorate for every holiday: FLITI, with 11 themes and a 32 ft throw.
  • You want a floating ghost on a porch: Treela and a length of white gauze.
  • You want something for the candy table: Jabberin’ Jack.

Halloween Projector FAQs

What is the best Halloween projector?

For most homes, the Toodour Double Head projector: two 360° heads, four dynamic patterns, a built-in timer and a 1-year warranty for about $24. For a window projection with moving characters, the HoliScapes Reaper Brothers kit is the most complete option.

How do Halloween projectors work?

Light projectors shine an LED through a moving disc or a slide to throw patterns onto a wall. Window projectors are small video projectors that play looping Halloween videos onto a translucent screen hung in a window, so the characters are visible from outside.

What kind of projector do I need for a Halloween window display?

A video projector with a USB or HDMI input, looping Halloween videos (such as AtmosFX), and a rear-projection screen hung in the window. Place the projector inside, 6–8 ft behind the screen, and turn the room lights off.

Are Halloween projectors worth it?

A $20–$40 light projector is one of the cheapest ways to decorate a whole wall, and slide models like the FLITI can be reused for other holidays. A $200+ window kit is worth it if the moving-characters effect is the centerpiece of your display.

What is the best fabric for a Halloween projector screen?

A purpose-made translucent rear-projection or holographic screen gives the cleanest picture. For a floating-ghost effect with a light projector, white gauze or cheesecloth works well.

Can you use a Halloween projector on a garage door?

Yes. A garage door is one of the best surfaces because it is large, flat and usually light-colored. Place a light projector 10–15 ft away, or use the Toodour’s second head to cover the wall beside it.

Final Verdict

For most houses, the best Halloween projector is the Toodour Double Head: it covers two surfaces, runs itself on a timer and costs less than a takeout dinner. The EAMBRITE is the budget answer with the best outdoor power supply, and the FLITI is the one to buy if you’ll use it again at Thanksgiving and Christmas. If the effect you want is ghosts and zombies moving through your window, skip the lights and get the HoliScapes kit, or build your own if you already own a projector. Order by mid-October; popular Halloween lights often sell out close to the day.

How We Compared These Halloween Projectors

We shortlisted Halloween projectors from Amazon’s best-selling and highest-rated listings in September 2026 and kept only products from identifiable brands with at least 100 owner ratings. We then chose one pick per type: two-head light, budget ghost light, slide projector, hologram-style light, video window kit and novelty. Every specification, price and rating comes from the live Amazon listing at the time of writing; where a listing omits a figure, we say so. We did not physically test these products.
