Five Functions and a Clip
The DoohicKey is a flat stainless steel key tool with five jobs: a bottle opener, a box cutter, three wrench sizes, a ruler marked in metric and standard units, and a flathead screwdriver. Its party trick is the built-in carabiner clip, so it clips to a keychain, bag strap or belt loop instead of needing a split ring. At $5.49 on 7 October 2026 it was the cheapest tool in our roundup.
Tiny and Light
It measures 2.6 x 0.7 x 0.1 inches and weighs 0.4 oz, the lightest figure in the group. With 4,321 ratings at 4.6 stars, it has a large owner base for a $5 tool. Nite Ize does not publish the three wrench sizes on the listing, so do not count on it for a specific nut.
Limitations and Compromises
The listing calls it TSA-friendly, but it includes a box cutter edge, and TSA’s own list does not allow box cutters in carry-on bags; if you fly carry-on, the Gerber Shard or Geekey is the safer choice. There are no pliers or scissors.
Who Should Buy It?
- You want the cheapest useful tool on your keys
- You like a clip-on carabiner
- You open boxes and bottles more than you fix things
Look elsewhere if you want pliers (the Gerber Dime or NexTool Mini Flagship), scissors (the Victorinox Classic SD) or a tool for carry-on travel (the Gerber Shard).
SoftPickr Verdict
The Nite Ize DoohicKey scores 8.0/10 and is our pick for best budget keychain multitool. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $5.49 on 7 October 2026 and the live listing is the only accurate source.
