A Real Light for the Price of a Coffee
At $6.99 when we checked, the Blukar costs about a third of the RovyVon. The listing title claims 360 lumens with high, medium and low modes, a USB-C port and an aluminum body, and it has 4.7 stars from 4,390 ratings. For a glovebox, a kid’s backpack or a second set of keys, that is hard to argue with.
The Battery Is the Trade-Off
Blukar is clear about the battery: a built-in, non-removable 130 mAh pack. A 2-hour charge gives up to 5.5 hours on low. That is far less than the Nitecore TIKI’s 40 hours, so plan to top it up regularly. The power switch doubles as a battery indicator and glows red when charging or low.
Controls and Memory
Press the switch to change modes. To turn it off, either wait 8 seconds in any mode and press again, or long-press. It remembers the last mode you used. A circular keyring is included for keys, a bag or a belt loop.
Limitations and Compromises
A 130 mAh battery and 5.5 hours on low are the weakest numbers in this roundup. The listing says waterproof but gives no IP rating. There is no lockout, and Blukar does not publish beam distance.
Who Should Buy It?
- You want a working rechargeable keychain light for under $10
- You need spares for kids, cars or a go-bag
- You want a simple three-mode light
- You will charge it often
Look elsewhere if you want long runtime (the Nitecore TIKI), a published water rating (the Fenix E03R v2.0), or a lockout (the RovyVon A3 Gen 4).
SoftPickr Verdict
The Blukar scores 7.8/10. It is the budget keychain flashlight that does the basics for a few dollars; the small battery is the reason to spend more if the light will be your main one. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $6.99 at the time of writing and the live listing is the only accurate source.
