A Riser That Changes Width
Most dual-monitor risers are one fixed length. This one is 33.3 inches wide in its compact position and extends to 45 inches. That lets the same stand hold one wide monitor today and two screens later, or fit a desk with a lamp or speaker at one end. At 10.9 inches deep and 5 inches high, it is a low, shallow shelf that leaves room for a keyboard in front.
Organizer Drawer and Side Caddies
The sliding drawer has an organizer tray with six removable dividers, so you can split it into as many as nine compartments for pens, sticky notes and small parts. Two side caddies hang off the ends for cables or tools, and a built-in slot holds a phone or tablet upright for calls and videos. It is the most organizer-like stand in this group.
Track Record
Simple Houseware lists 4,182 ratings at 4.6 out of 5 for this black version, and the stand ranked #8 in Amazon’s Computer Monitor Stands category when we checked. Those are strong numbers for a dual riser at about $40.
Limitations and Compromises
Simple Houseware does not publish a weight capacity, so check your monitors’ weight with the seller if you use two heavy screens. The 5-inch height is fixed. The frame is engineered wood, not solid wood or metal. Extending to 45 inches opens a gap in the middle of the shelf, so put monitor bases on the solid ends.
Who Should Buy It?
- You have two monitors or plan to add a second one
- You want a drawer with removable dividers
- You want a phone and tablet slot
- You want a dual riser for about $40 at the time of writing
Look elsewhere if you need a published weight rating for heavy screens (the Mexin is listed at 100 lb), want solid bamboo (the Homerays), or want USB ports and wireless charging (the meatanty).
SoftPickr Verdict
The Simple Houseware Dual Monitor Stand scores 8.5/10. It is the most flexible dual riser we found for the money: it adjusts in width, organizes small items well and has thousands of reviews behind it. The missing weight rating is the one thing to check. Prices on Amazon move; the figure in this review was $39.97 at the time of writing and the live listing is the only accurate source.
