A Heater Sized for Tall People
Most folding under desk heaters are sized for an average seated leg. The SOPHRAY is 48 in long and 23 in tall unfolded, and SOPHRAY gives a clear fit rule: if the height from your knees to the floor is 23 in or less, it will cover you. That makes it the pick in our roundup for tall users and for anyone whose knees stick out past a smaller panel.
The Blanket Does Half the Work
The panel heats on three sides, and SOPHRAY includes a 43 x 32 in blanket to lay over the top. That closes the box, so the heat stays around your legs instead of escaping upward. The listing says the blanket lets “the temperature rise higher”, which is the same idea as a Japanese kotatsu. It is the most effective way to feel warm at a low wattage.
Published Numbers, Including the Wattage
Unlike our top pick, the SOPHRAY listing gives a power figure: 235 W, about one sixth of a 1,500 W space heater. Heat levels are listed as 104°F, 131°F and 140°F, each with a stated tolerance of ±41°F, which is wide. The timer defaults to shutting off after 2 hours, and you can set 3, 6 or 9 hours. It turns off if tipped more than 45° and it must not be used lying flat.
Limitations and Compromises
It is big. Unfolded, it needs 48 in of floor under the desk, which is more than a compact desk or a desk with a drawer pedestal can give. The blanket is effective but some people will find it fussy in an office. The ±41°F tolerance on each heat level is a wide range. With 335 ratings it is less proven than the budget picks.
Setup and Care
Unfold the panel into a U, fit the three brackets to keep it upright, and stand it around your lower legs. Plug it into a wall outlet using the 79 in cord, choose a heat level and a timer, then drape the blanket over the top. Never lay the panel flat while it is on.
Who Should Buy It?
- You are tall or have long legs
- Your feet stay cold even with a small heater
- You want a published wattage and heat levels
- You have room under the desk for a 48 in panel
Look elsewhere if your desk is small: the WHISPERHEAT under desk warmer is more compact, and the Hodeamy heated floor mat lies flat under your feet.
SoftPickr Verdict
The SOPHRAY foldable leg warmer scores 8.4/10. It is the most complete kit in our roundup, with the biggest panel, a blanket, published wattage and a long timer. Buy it if you are tall or run cold; skip it if floor space is tight. The price at the time of writing was $69.99; check the live listing for today’s price.
